2023 – 2028 Scientific Program

The Geodata Real Estate and Land Chair (GIF) aims primarily to analyze land and real estate markets using a bottom-up and cross-sectoral approach through the quantitative exploitation of geolocated microdata, at the national level and for all types of actors in the land and real estate markets.

More specifically, it addresses the processes of identification, selection, and management of land and real estate assets by the different market participants through four main areas of research:

  1. The behavior of the different categories of buyers (landowners—agricultural or otherwise—first-time buyers, rental property owners, etc.) and their effects on the emergence of local sub-markets (demand analysis).

  2. The definition (notably by public stakeholders) of land reserves for development projects and the choice of locations for real estate operations (analysis of construction and off-plan sales).

  3. The profile of property owners and their impact on local land and real estate markets (ownership and multiple ownership analysis).

  4. The estimation of the value of land and real estate assets held by various categories of owners and the spatial distribution of wealth (asset analysis).
